Shipping charges are calculated based on the distance your package needs to travel and the volumetric weight. The volumetric weight tells the courier how much space your parcel will occupy on a van or aircraft.
The good news is, you don’t need to know the volumetric weight of your parcel to get a shipping quote. Simply enter the length, width and height of your package into our shipping calculator and in seconds we’ll show you shipping quotes from multiple couriers. It's that easy!
Calculate your shippingVolumetric weight is used in the courier and logistics industry to calculate how much space an item is going to take up in the courier's network. The volumetric weight of our package will go towards determining how much the shipping charge will be. Volumetric weight is calculated as follows:
Length x width x height divided by 5000
The number you divide by varies by carrier, but in general it’s anywhere between 4000 and 6000.
An economy service is the cheapest way to ship internationally, however economy does typically take longer to deliver, so an express service will be better if you’re in a rush!
There are a number of factors which determine the cost of shipping a package. The most obvious one is how far your package needs to travel. For instance, shipping within the US is cheaper than shipping internationally and shipping from Manhattan to Queens will be cheaper than shipping from New York to Los Angeles.
The other key factor is the size and weight of your package, generally shipping heavy packages is more expensive, however a light but particularly large package could also incur extra cost due to the amount of space it will take up on the van or aircraft.
The quick quote form is designed to give you a quick estimate of how much it is likely to cost to send a parcel of that weight to a specific destination, however this won’t be the final price.
To get an accurate quote, you’ll need to use the full quote form and provide us with the weight and dimensions of your package along with the sender's address (that’s you) and the receiving address. Remember that weight and dimensions are important when calculating the cost of shipping so you need to be accurate.
If you start off by using the quick quote, you’ll be diverted to the full quote form during the booking process.
